Our friends, partners and supporters come together several times a year to rededicate themselves to the K.I.D.S.’ mission and to recognize those donors, foundations, individuals and agency partners who contribute so much to the lives of the children and families we service.
The K.I.D.S. Annual Gala
Our Annual Gala tops off the year as our major fundraising event honoring leaders in the retail and manufacturing fields as well as others who contribute to the organization. Honorees have included: Richard Robinson, the CEO of Scholastic, Jerry Storch, the CEO of Toys"R"Us, Michael Balmuth, the Chairman, CEO and President of Ross Stores, and Matthew McCauley, the CEO of Gymboree Stores.
In addition, we are honored every year with a special guest speaker, such as President Bill Clinton in 2005 and President Barack Obama in 2006, who spoke about the empathy gap in American between the "have" and "have nots." The proceeds of the fundraiser are used to help defray the shipping, public marketing and administrative costs of the organization, which amount to a low 2.5% overhead.

Women in Industry Luncheon
Once a year, leaders from the fashion and related industries attend a luncheon in New York to honor women from media, business, and the fashion industries who share first-hand their experience about working in male dominated fields. At the 2006 luncheon, Leslie Stahl provided a moving testimony of her career in the media, and in 2009, New York State’s First Lady Michelle Paige Paterson was honored for her “Healthy Steps” children’s anti-obesity initiative. The luncheon also serves as an opportunity for women of all backgrounds to come together around their common interest of helping to fight poverty and make a difference in the lives of children.

Special Events
K.I.D.S. holds parlor meetings, receptions and other events throughout the year for supporters to learn, mingle and be updated on the progress of the organization. Watch for special events during the year, from fundraisers and awards programs to special K.I.D.S. service projects across the country.
