We are grateful for the support of the many private and community-based foundations and charities who see our work as part of their mission to create a better world for children and families at risk.
Over the years, community, private, corporate and family foundations have made financial donations to help K.I.D.S. undertake its important work.
Community Foundations provide funding so K.I.D.S. can match their monetary donation “ten-to-one” with products distributed to social services agencies in their communities. For example, for many years the Cleveland Foundation has provided funds to K.I.D.S. so that more than $250,000 worth of shoes and clothes can be sent to "Shoes and Clothes for Kids," a not-for-profit agency that helps many thousand children in the city receive those items they might normally go without.
Private Foundations also provide funding to ensure the well being of children in selected communities or to support specific initiatives under the auspices of K.I.D.S. and other organizations. Some of these programs include books from Scholastic distributed to children on Native Indian reservations; or child development programs on military bases supported by juvenile product manufacturers; or after school programs with videos from Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in Title I school districts.
Corporate Foundations, such as United Parcel Service (UPS), provide funds which link its mission to the goals of K.I.D.S. When a company believes that providing resources to get families back on their feet can have major economic and social impact on citizens, they will underwrite the work of K.I.D.S. to ensure our success.
Family Foundations provide funding that has immediate and meaningful impact on programs that reflect their values and priorities. For years, K.I.D.S. has received funds from family foundations for specific program areas such as for children with permanent physical handicaps whose lives are brightened by toys or games, or for prison inmates who receive books of fiction and biography to expand their horizons.
